A mother and daughter who went missing from their Irvine, Calif., Home last year may have been kidnapped, police said Thursday in an update to the case.
Amber Aiaz (also known as Mei Yi Wu), 35, and her daughter Melissa Fu, 13, were last seen at their home around 6 p.m. on November 22, 2019.
The Irvine Police Department released very little information about the case in a press release issued a month after the disappearance, indicating that it was under investigation.
In one Release On Thursday, the department said detectives “had developed reason to believe the two may have been kidnapped.”
Aiaz’s husband told police that on the day his family went missing, a man and woman “of Chinese origin” knocked on their apartment door and when he opened it, he “had was immediately rendered unconscious by an unknown substance, “the statement said.
He told police his wife and daughter were gone when he woke up.
Authorities said the husband did not know the man and woman and believe it is possible that someone in the apartment complex saw them.
Police are looking for the man and woman, presumably in their forties, as well as a black Cadillac associated with them.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation is assisting in this case and offering a reward of $ 10,000 for information that leads to Aiaz and Fu’s location.
