Former UGA big says embarrassing Florida loss should motivate Bulldogs in Cincinnati

The bowl season is often unpredictable, but the intrigue could be even greater this season given the lack of non-conference games during the regular season and the growing tendency for players not to play in the playoffs.

These facts have certainly made coaches wonder what they will take away from their teams in their bowling games and how to motivate them to perform at their best.

Regarding Georgia’s Peach Bowl game against Cincinnati on Friday, former UGA wide receiver Terrence Edwards has a suggestion: He says look no further than the embarrassing loss Florida suffered against the ‘Oklahoma Wednesday night.

The Sooners strangled the Gators 55-20 in the Cotton Bowl, and after the game Florida coach Dan Mullen offered a litany of apologies for his team’s failures. Edwards says the UGA doesn’t want to be in the same position Friday night after playing the Bearcats.

There are, of course, plenty of reasons to believe the UGA will be more locked up than the Gators – despite a few Bulldogs players deciding not to play.

Senior safety Richard LeCounte is working to recover from his injury, future NFL Draft pick Tyson Campbell has pledged his dedication to the team and others have echoed a similar sentiment.

It remains to be seen what the results will be for UGA in the game against an unbeaten opponent, ranked in the top 10 and has been touted by many for his inclusion in the college football playoffs. However, it’s a safe bet that the Bulldogs – for the reasons set out by Edwards and beyond – will be locked up and ready to compete.
