- OnePlus has reportedly introduced a $ 40 fitness band tentatively known as the OnePlus Band.
- It would rival the Xiaomi Mi Band 5 by offering AMOLED, water resistance, and long battery life.
- It would be launched in early 2021.
Update, December 31, 2020 (10 a.m.ET): It was only yesterday that the news of a OnePlus fitness band might be on the way. Now thanks to leaker @stufflistings on Twitter we have what appear to be our first renderings of the device.
Look at the picture below:
As you can see, the fitness bracelet looks a lot like other products from several competing brands, including Xiaomi. What will differentiate it from the pack will be the connected application software, which will be a first for OnePlus.

Original article, December 30, 2020 (1:38 p.m. ET): You might not have to splurge on the OnePlus Watch to get a wearable accessory from the Passionate Badge. Android Central sources claim that OnePlus is developing a fitness band around $ 40 that competes with low-cost activity trackers like the Xiaomi Mi Band 5.

The OnePlus Band would match its main opponent with key features including an AMOLED display, “multi-day” battery and water resistance suitable for workouts. It’s unclear what perks (if any) OnePlus would have to offer, although it would clearly bet on its name.
OnePlus Band: When and where did it land?
OnePlus could introduce the fitness band in the first quarter of 2021, tipsters said. As the company would like to get a head start on the OnePlus 9 launch, it could debut the tracker as early as January or early February. However, it may only be launched for India first – other regions would get the group at a ‘later date’.
An entry into this space would make sense. As AC pointed out, the fitness band would serve as a wearable counterpart to the OnePlus Nord line – a more affordable alternative for those who wish to forgo some high-end perks. And when analysts say the North is doing well in India, it could easily make sense to launch a tracker that capitalizes on that success.
The challenge may simply be to stand out. There’s not much room for advanced hardware in this space, and OnePlus wouldn’t have the luxury of customizing a full smartwatch platform like Wear OS. Rivals like Xiaomi can be successful just by having an existing base and offering a product that is “good enough”. Although OnePlus has its mark, it has yet to start from scratch.
