Abs are back in town
It’s time to ring in the New Year and with it comes Anji Mito’s birthday on January 1, which of course makes it the perfect time to have a little party in the world of Guilty Gear.
Arc System Works certainly agreed given that they have now released Anji’s gameplay trailer, as he will appear in Guilty Gear Strive with all the abs and fans you could hope for in these festivities.
First appearing 20 years ago with the release of GGX, Mito struggles with his Zessen fans and traditional Japanese dance moves that seem to be making a full comeback in Strive.
As one of the few remaining Japanese in the world, Anji is a wanted man for escaping the settlements they were placed in and stealing the Zessen, which happens to be one of the sacred treasures like Sol’s swords and Ky.

Those who have returned to play Accent Core recently will likely notice a complete overhaul of Anji’s animations, which is not surprising given that this is his first time fighting in the Three-Dimensional Realm.
Most of his attacks appear to be intact, however, since we can see his special Fuujin a number of times although we only see what appears to be the follow-up at this time.
One move very noticeably absent at the moment is his Kai stomp which provided him with tons of pressure and confusion scenarios, so it would be a shame if he didn’t make a comeback in Strive.
Anji also obviously retains his butterfly projectile and general aesthetic, as it wouldn’t really be him without Guard Point’s counter-mechanic who is also seen on multiple occasions.
Guilty Gear Strive is slated for release worldwide on April 9, 2021 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC, though players can access it a few days earlier by pre-ordering the Deluxe / Ultimate Edition.
While there is no character tease / reveal as to who the last member of Strive’s roster is, ArcSys confirms at the end that the next announcement will arrive in February 2021. You can check out the new trailer below.
