Marvel rings in the new year with musical mix

Marvel Studios celebrated the New Year with a special performance featuring iconic pieces from the MCU.

Marvel Studios has ushered in the New Year with a special musical performance in China featuring some of the most iconic sounds from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

Aired at the Chinese New Year Gala in Bilibili, a Chinese orchestra performed “Marvel Studios Fanfare” by Brian Theodore Tyler and Alan Silvestri “The Avengers” theme to an impressive array of lights and special effects. At the end of the performance, the conductor can be seen donning Thanos’ Infinity glove while the Chinese logos for Black Widow, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and Eternals appear in the background.

In the MCU, Tyler’s “Marvel Studios Fanfare” can be heard at the start of many more recent films, playing alongside the Marvel Studios logo. Silvestri’s Avengers theme was first introduced in the Avengers before being reused in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. As the most iconic MCU track, it has also been featured in various promotional and marketing materials.

Marvel has planned for a very busy 2021. Cinema side, Black Widow will launch phase 4 on May 7 and will be followed by Shang-Chi and the legend of the ten rings July 9 and Eternals November 5. Marvel Studios and Sony to end the year with the untitled Spider-Man: Far From Home sequel, which will be released on December 17th.

Phase 4 will continue in 2022, with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness March 25 and Thor: love and thunder May 6, 2022 will also see Black Panther II will debut on July 8 and Captain Marvel 2 hits theaters on November 11, 2022. Meanwhile, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is also slated for an undisclosed date in 2022, while Guardians of the Galaxy 3 will open in 2023.

Marvel will launch its Disney + 2021 TV slate with WandaVision on January 15, with new episodes airing every Friday. The falcon and the winter soldier will follow on March 19, while Loki will premiere in May. Hawk Eye and Mrs. wonder are also expected to hit the streaming service later in the year. Finally, the animation What if…? is scheduled for release in summer 2021.

Other TV series in development include She-Hulk and Moon Knight. During the last Disney Investor Day presentation, the House of Mouse also announced that projects based on Secret invasion, Ironheart and Armor wars, as well as a collection of shorts following Baby Groot titled I am Groot.
