Cyberpunk 2077 website has promised free DLC in early 2021 – but don’t bet on ‘soon’

In my opinion, Cyberpunk 2077 is not quite the disaster that some have suggested. The game is fun. Bugs are fun! The bugs that really really were not fun have been fixed. Refunds were widely publicized, and despite this refund option, the game sold 13 million copies in just two weeks.

But CD Projekt publisher still has a broken reputation to fix and an investor lawsuit to contend with, so I wouldn’t put too much stock in the title you might have read today: That We All Get DLC free to play in early 2021..

It’s possible! And that’s totally what this official site promises. But this promise may not be up to date.

As Engadget points out, the Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine shows that this promise may have been released across the internet on the very day the game was launched – before the uproar started, and certainly before CD Projekt held an emergency conference call on December 15 to discuss how the company would do it. react.

In this call (PDF transcript), CD Projekt chairman and co-CEO Adam Kiciński told investors that it was “too early to judge” when the company could release the DLC.

Specifically, he was asked, “How do you feel about your ability to release some DLC next year and obviously multiplayer in 2022?” (CD Projekt previously said multiplayer would be missing 2021.)

The full answer: “To be honest, it’s too early to judge. For now, let us handle the situation, and please let us do a few more assessments – we still have it; we don’t know yet, and now we’re focusing on improving Cyberpunk. We will discuss this early next year.

Currently, we are expecting two major fixes for the game in January and February respectively, as the company has promised. December 13 in his apology post:

Beyond that, a free DLC would of course be nice. Personally, I just want NPCs who can drive.
