A new promo for Disney + ‘s WandaVision promises the start of a visionary era in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

A New Year’s Day promo for the next Disney + drama WandaVision promises the start of a visionary new era for the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

The promo focuses on Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany), a seemingly perfect suburban life. However, all is not as it seems, as the two begin to experience reality-distorting interactions with their neighbors and surroundings. The trailer also provides a new photo of a helicopter flying through a sky that appears to be engulfed by Wanda’s red energy.

New details regarding WandaVision were slowly released, although the plot still remains a mystery. A black-and-white image of Wanda showed how the show will incorporate tropes from the golden age of television, like a married couple sleeping in separate bedrooms – a staple in comedies such as I Love lucy and The Dick Van Dyke Show. The series pilot was also filmed in front of a live studio audience, a tribute to multi-camera sitcoms.

WandaVision is one of several MCU shows that Disney + has in the pipeline. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier was supposed to launch programming in August, but, due to coronavirus delays, has been pushed back to March 2021. Other ongoing series include Loki, Hawkeye, Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk and Moon Knight. During the last Disney Investor Day presentation, the House of Mouse also announced that projects based on Secret invasion, Ironheart and Armor wars are in development, as well as a collection of shorts following Baby Groot titled I am Groot. Finally, the animation What if…? is scheduled for release in summer 2021.
