The U.S. Coast Guard said on Friday it had suspended its search for a missing ship carrying around 20 people traveling from the Bahamas to south Florida.
The 29-foot blue-and-white Mako Cuddy Cabin vessel took off from Bimini, Bahamas on Monday, but failed to reach its destination in Lake Worth, Fla., The coast guard said in a statement.
Authorities received information about the boat’s disappearance on Tuesday, which prompted an extensive search by the coast guard, the Royal Bahamas Defense Force and the Bahamas Air Sea Rescue Association.
The 84-hour search covered approximately 17,000 square miles between the Bahamas and Florida, the agency said.
