In his five years with the Eagles, Pederson compiled a 42-36-1 (.538) record, and in case you missed it, the team won their very first Super Bowl under the leadership of Pederson. This season, the Eagles’ attacking staff have consistently outperformed their defensive opponents, and Pederson has pioneered ultra-aggressive call and play management strategy.
When Carson Wentz tore his ACL apart, ending his season, Pederson and his staff rethought the offensive approach and put Nick Foles in the best possible position to succeed. This season was among the most impressive coaching performances the City of Philadelphia has ever seen.
In 2018 and 2019, due to a lack of playmakers, the Eagles offense was often unable to generate big plays, move from station to station, and capitalize on travel in the red zone. Still, Pederson did because of a lack of talent in skill positions.

In 2020, everything was bad. The talent. Coaching. The scheme. Execution. You name it, the Eagles stank of it, and Pederson was partly to blame. Weird in-game decisions (like playing for a draw against the Bengals), and playing call quirks (calling a fade on a crucial fourth to a guy who’s literally never played an offensive snap in the NFL) were the norm, while the program lacked creativity and cohesion. Injuries have certainly factored in, but they weren’t new, and Pederson and his team have trained them in the past.
Heading into Week 17, the Eagles are currently dead last in one of the worst divisions in NFL history, despite the inherent benefit of sacking their head coach, defensive coordinator and quarterback. for their fifth season together, while the other three teams in the division have been forced to implement their schedules in an unprecedented and shortened offseason due to the spread of COVID.
The Eagles are hoping Pederson’s 2020 season will be just a yearlong wart on an otherwise quality coaching career. However, Pederson’s headquarters will be hot as 2021 approaches.
