OnePlus is preparing several updates to Android 11

To kick off 2021, OnePlus presented its plans to update previous generation devices to OxygenOS 11 and Android 11. The list of devices we are referring to includes the OnePlus Nord, OnePlus 7 and 7T series, OnePlus 6 series and 6T and launched OnePlus Nord 10 5G and N100.

The first device slated to grab OnePlus’ big Android 11 update will be its highest tier North, the original OnePlus North. OnePlus is launching a first open beta of OxygenOS 11 next week. This beta will help OnePlus to further test and bring it up to their “standards”, so that it can then be rolled out to everyone.

There is no current estimate of when OnePlus Nord’s Android 11 update will reach stability, so if you want the latest software, you’ll need to join the beta. Doing it is not difficult, but getting out of it once there is stability could be.

Next, OnePlus hopes to update both the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7T series. After encountering some sort of data decryption issue when attempting to port Android 11 to all of them, OnePlus claims to have worked with Qualcomm to resolve the issue and now run closed beta tests. Assuming closed testing goes well, they’ll run an open beta like they’re about to do with OnePlus Nord before upgrading to stable.

Again, there is no specific timeline for when the OnePlus 7, OnePlus 7 Pro, or 7T could get the update outside of the beta.

And finally, the OnePlus 6, 6T, Nord N10 5G, and Nord N100 are all slated to receive Android 11, but we have no idea when that will happen. OnePlus still expects to update all of these devices at some point, just be aware that they need to update the original Nord and both 7 Series devices first.

We will keep you posted as these versions become available. In the meantime, be sure to check out our first look at OxygenOS and Android 11 together.
