Even with its Android and Google software issues, Huawei continues to deliver high-quality smartphone hardware, and now we have our first glimpse of the next flagship phone we’ve been expecting from the Chinese company.
Unofficial renders of the Huawei P50 Pro have been posted by the regular leaker @OnLeaks, and while they don’t reveal too much in terms of the phone’s design, it looks like we’re in another very polished Huawei phone.
We also have a few details on the screen and dimensions of the Huawei P50 Pro as well: it will apparently ship with a 6.6-inch display, with an overall size of 159mm by 73mm (6.3-inch by 2.9-inch ).
You’re probably wondering how this compares to last year’s Huawei P40 Pro – this phone came with a 6.58-inch display and measured 158.2mm x 72.6mm, so it looks like the edition this year will be almost exactly the same size.
We can be pretty sure the accuracy of this review given the reputation of @OnLeaks, but there is only a front view of the phone at this time. It looks like the power and volume buttons are on the right side of the handset from the user’s perspective as usual.
While the screen isn’t on, it’s possible to make out roughly a single punch hole for the selfie camera, so it doesn’t look like we’re going to get a dual-lens front-facing camera like we did. with the P40 Pro.
We haven’t heard too much about what to expect from the Huawei P50 Pro or Huawei P50 yet, but if Huawei follows the same timeline as 2020, the flagship pair of handsets should appear around March. We could also see a Pro Plus model.
Questions remain about how Huawei will source components for these phones given its continuing problems doing business with US companies, but there’s no doubt we’ll hear more of the leaks and rumors over the course of the next few months.
