The plot thickens for the woman nicknamed “Soho Karen”.
The woman, identified as Miya Ponsetto, who allegedly attacked and accused a 14-year-old Keyon Harrold Jr. for stealing his iPhone just over a week ago from a New York hotel apparently has a history of illegal behavior.
As previously stated by theGrio, Ponsetto hit the headlines after Grammy-winning trumpeter Keyon Harrold posted an Instagram video of her hastily accusing her teenage son of taking her cell phone while she was in the lobby of the Arlo SoHo hotel in Manhattan where the Harrolds were staying.
The video shows Ponsetto rushing towards young Harrold, demanding that he prove that the phone he was holding was not his phone. The elder Harrold defended his son from the woman, while also capturing the incident on his phone.

An Uber driver would later return his lost phone moments later.
Since then, Harrold has demanded that Ponsetto be accused of assaulting his son, with the backing of a civil rights lawyer Benjamin crump, according to CNN.
NBC News reported further footage from the hotel’s surveillance camera, showing Ponsetto attacking Harrold Jr. on the ground in the skirmish, supporting his father’s accusations that his son was attacked.
Police reported Keyon Jr. “suffered scratches to his hand.”

It doesn’t appear to be the first time Ponsetto has caused a commotion in a hotel. the New York Post reported that Ponsetto and his mother were both arrested for public intoxication last February. TMZ reports that at the time, the two women were staying at the Peninsula Hotel in Beverly Hills and refused to leave, prompting hotel management to call the police.
In May, Ponsetto was arrested again, this time for driving while intoxicated and driving with a suspended license. She was sentenced to three years’ probation after pleading without challenge.
Ponsetto has yet to be formally charged over the SoHo incident, but CNN reports that the Manhattan district attorney’s office is “fully investigating” the incident.
