A military plane that President Donald Trump occasionally uses is expected to land in Scotland the day before Joe Biden’s inauguration, fueling speculation the president is considering leaving the United States for his luxurious Scottish golf resort rather than attending at the event.
The Sunday Post, a Scottish weekly, reported that the plane, a Boeing 757, was due to land at Prestwick Airport – near the President’s Turnberry Golf Resort – on January 19, a day before Biden’s inauguration at Washington, DC.
The president has used the plane on previous overseas trips, although a source at the airport told the newspaper that it was more frequently used by the vice president or the first lady.

Trump visited his Turnberry complex as part of a larger European trip in 2018.
Sources at Prestwick Airport told the Post that US surveillance planes had flown over Turnberry in recent weeks, adding to speculation about an impending presidential visit.
Reports have suggested that Trump, who has refused to recognize Biden’s election victory and has claimed without evidence that the election was rigged against him, is considering skipping Biden’s nomination.
He could try to organize a rival and captivating event at the same time. It could complicate several things, including the transfer of so-called nuclear football, a suitcase giving the president the means to carry out a nuclear strike.
Axios reported in December that Trump was considering a plan to fly in Air Force One in Florida and then address his supporters at a rally held concurrent with Biden’s inauguration.
And NBC News reported that Trump was planning to announce a presidential election in 2024 on inauguration day.
Prestwick Airport did not immediately respond to Business Insider’s request for comment.
