ALLEN PARK – The Detroit Lions ended their season less than 48 hours ago. They have already lined up nine interviews with potential coaches and general managers, one interview with Eric Bienemy on Monday, two more are scheduled for Tuesday and team president Rod Wood has just met reporters for the end-of-season press conference from the front office.
Busy and busy time in Allen Park.
Oh, and they just signed wide receiver Victor Bolden, guard Evan Brown, safety Jalen Elliott, wide receiver Tom Kennedy and linebacker Anthony Pittman for futures contracts.
Any player not on a team at the end of the regular season is eligible to be signed to a futures contract. Futures work like regular contracts, except they count towards the salary cap and membership roster limit for the following season. Teams can start signing players for such offers once their season is over.
Players who were on the rosters to wrap up the season cannot be signed until the start of the league’s new year on March 17.
