Following a violent attack by supporters of President Donald Trump on the U.S. Capitol, Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr sent a message to Republican senators who fueled the electoral conspiracy theories that sparked the insurgency of Wednesday.

Speaking to the media ahead of a game against the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday, Kerr suggested that senses. Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio and Josh Hawley do the same before meeting on Capitol Hill.

“I wish people like Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio and Josh Hawley had pre-game media before they meet in Congress,” Kerr said. “It would be great for them to answer the question, ‘Are you happy now? Do you keep pushing the line back? Does this change anything? Will you continue to activate? “

Why did Kerr single out the senators?

Hawley, a Trump loyalist representing Missouri, was the first senator to announce that he would oppose the electoral college vote count that confirms President-elect Joe Biden as Trump’s successor. Hawley cited baseless election theories launched by Trump that votes in some states that opted for Biden were invalid.

He was seen supporting the crowd on Wednesday.

That tally was due to take place by Congress on Wednesday before the mob backed by Trump and his supporters attacked the Capitol in an attempt to overthrow the democratic process.

Hawley declined to withdraw his objection when the Senate met again on Wednesday night following the attack.

Cruz, a Trump loyalist representing Texas, also vowed before the attack to oppose the electoral college vote count. he was one of six Senators alongside Hawley to follow up on his objection on Wednesday evening.

Rubio, a Republican from Florida, declined to state his position on electoral college certification. On Election Day, he launched a baseless conspiracy theory that supported Trump’s attempt to delegitimize the election.

Kerr also addressed the discrepancy in how police treated predominantly white rioters on Wednesday compared to the systemic violence suffered by black Americans at the hands of law enforcement.

“What you see today is a reminder that there is a huge difference,” Kerr said. … We all understand that there would have been guns and flames right now even if there were black people protesting. … Nothing will change until we recognize that there is a huge difference in the way black people are treated when it comes to law enforcement.

Police were seen on Wednesday posing with assailants and helping them down the stairs.

Kerr wasn’t the only person to make the observation on Wednesday.

Following Kerr’s pre-game commentary, the Warriors and Clippers players knelt during the pre-game national anthem.
