Samsung MicroLED televisions like The wall are still among the biggest products in THESE — literally. Last year’s version was a 292-inch monster made up of individual modules that required custom installation and cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. The 2021 version is a fixed-size 110, 99, and 88-inch MicroLED TV that costs a little less, but still ridiculously expensive.

Launched in Korea last month, the 110-inch MicroLED costs 170 million won, or about $ 156,000 according to ZDNet – the same as one Bentley Bentayga. At its First Look event before CES on Tuesday, the company announced two more sizes, 99 and 88 inches, all three with 4K resolution. Samsung says TVs will hit other markets later this year. For comparison, Samsung’s small 98-inch 8K TV costs $ 60,000, but it uses the standard LCD-based QLED display technology, not MicroLED.

MicroLED – not to be confused with Mini LED – is the first new screen technology in a decade and is more like OLED than LCD screen. It offers perfect black levels and high brightness as it uses millions of tiny LEDs to create the image directly, for potentially better image quality than OLED, the best currently available, without the possibility of burn. It is also much more beautiful than anything projector, especially in bright rooms or showing HDR Equipment.

the 4K resolution “smaller” sizes is a bit of a feat of engineering because the main obstacle to the mass adoption of MicroLED is to reduce it sufficiently. With the new model being pre-fabricated, “installation and calibration is simplified” compared to the previous modular version, according to Samsung. The company promises even smaller MicroLED TVs in the future and has shown a 75-inch prototype in 2019.

The 110-inch MicroLED TV is basically the size of four 55-inch televisions glued together, and a feature called MultiView lets you connect multiple devices simultaneously and watch up to four things at once. According to the Liberation. MultiView is also available on the smaller 99 and 88 inch versions.

In terms of design, the set is pretty much any screen. Samsung has removed the bezel around the screen entirely and boasts a screen-to-body ratio of 99.99%. The TV can also provide 5.1-channel sound and has built-in object tracking to track the sound of objects moving across the screen.

Prices and availability in markets other than Korea have not been announced.
