Apple CEO Tim Cook teased an announcement coming Wednesday and said everyone involved in the Jan.6 siege on the U.S. Capitol should be “held accountable.”
Apple’s CEO spoke with “CBS This Morning host Gayle King will speak about an unspecified announcement from the company slated for January 13. During the scheduled interview, however, King asked Cook about the assault on the Capitol.
“I think it’s essential that people are held accountable,” Cook said. “It’s not something that should skate. It’s something that we have to be very serious and understand. And then we have to move on.”
Asked whether President Donald Trump should be held accountable for his role in inciting the riot, Cook did not mention the president by name, but said everyone involved should be held responsible.
“I think no one is above the law. I mean, it’s a great thing about our country, and we are a country of rule of law,” Cook said. “I think everyone who participated in it should be held accountable.”
