They say the Jaguars are infatuated with Urban Meyer. These feelings are not exactly reciprocal. Although Meyer is interested in the Jags, he’s still on the fence about coaching in 2020 and jumping to the pros, like NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport tweets.
The Jaguars also met with the Chiefs’ offensive coordinator Eric Bienemy, Interim Falcons Head Coach Raheem morris, Offensive coordinator of the Titans Arthur smithand 49ers defensive coordinator Robert saleh. Meyer – probably more expensive than your average college trainer – would make the biggest noise of the bunch. The Jaguars also had an interest in Ryan day, The current Ohio State head coach, but he is not ready to turn professional.
For Meyer, the Jaguars would represent a whole new challenge and an opportunity to coach this year’s top pick. Still, it would mean less time with his family and health considerations could be involved as well.
Rapoport learns that some people at the Jaguars front office are increasingly frustrated by Meyer’s indecision. The former UF and Ohio State coach has flirted with the NFL in the past, only to fend off inquiries. This time around, Meyer’s camp has been proactive in generating buzz and scaring away opportunities. Yet Meyer is still not sure what he wants to do.
