Mohamed Diab, the Egyptian pilot behind the Middle East drama Shock, and Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, the team of independent genre filmmakers behind sci-fi horror films Infinity and Synchronous, run the show.

Moon Knight has had several incarnations over the decades since his debut in 1975, from being a former sailor turned mercenary with multiple alter egos to a conduit for the Egyptian moon god Khonshu, until recently a dapper-clad consultant . . One aspect of the stories of the modern comic book era has been grappling with the mental illnesses of several personalities.

It’s unclear what Marvel’s stance will be on the series. It’s also unclear what role Calamawy will play and Marvel declined to comment.

Calamawy plays Ramy Youssef’s sister in Frame, the popular Emmy-nominated comedy-drama series on Hulu. The show, about a Muslim-Arab American navigating an opposing cultural community, is working on its third season. She recently completed independent comedy Together together which stars Ed Helms.

Calamawy is replaced by Management 360.
