Georgia state senators who supported attempts to overturn presidential election stripped of committee credentials

Two days after the start of the State Assembly’s winter session, Lieutenant Governor Geoff Duncan (right) took action against the Sense State. Brandon Beach from Alpharetta, Matt Brass from Newnan and Burt Jones from Jackson.

The demotions mean Duncan will no longer chair the Transport Committee and Jones will be replaced as the head of the Insurance and Labor Committee. Brass will now oversee a banking committee – a smaller post he previously held, according to the Journal-Constitution.

While the demotions were somewhat expected, not all members of the assembly who support the president’s efforts were punished, the Journal-Constitution wrote.

The changes come as Georgia has recently experienced significant political upheaval.

The victories of Biden, Ossoff, and Warnock made Georgia blue for the first time since 1992 and gave the Democrats a majority in the Senate.

A recent Hill-HarrisX poll found that 56% of Georgian voters are satisfied with the state’s election conduct.
