With the first major domino falling on Wednesday afternoon when the Denver Broncos hired George Paton as their next general manager, it’s realistic to expect things to move much faster for the Detroit Lions in their search.
One candidate that has emerged this week is Colts assistant general manager Ed Dodds. Dodds has one of the best reputations in the business, having helped build a championship squad during his long tenure with the Seattle Seahawks organization and then helping the Indianapolis Colts through a quick turnaround. He also turns out to be one of the most popular choices among Lions fans for this position.
Dodds is another candidate who is not so forward looking with the media, however, and this leads to little understanding of who Dodds is as a person and the role he played within it. organization.
Luckily, Athletic’s Zak Keefer is one of the few journalists Dodds has let into his world a bit. Keefer wrote this fantastic Dodds bio in 2019, so we had to go get him for this week’s podcast.
