In 2019, Bandcamp launched a new service that allowed artists to sell vinyl through an in-house pressing service. Through crowdfunding campaigns fueled by customer orders, artists were able to sell vinyl produced and shipped by Bandcamp. Today, the company announced that the vinyl pressing service – which started on a limited trial basis for a handful of artists – is being expanded and offered to more artists.
The company reached out to 10,000 artists today to invite them to participate in the program and plans to offer the option of vinyl pressing to more artists throughout 2021. The vinyl pressing initiative is offered alongside the Bandcamp’s monthly Fridays, where artists make more money as Bandcamp forgoes its sales cut for the first Friday of each month through May 2021.
