The days of Houston Texans executive vice president of football operations Jack Easterby could be numbered, according to Peter King of NBC Sports.
“I think they’re going to get rid of him,” King said on Dale & Keefe Thursday.
It comes amid months of pressure from fans and the media to get Houston to do just that.

Easterby, the former New England Patriots’ character coach, quickly rose through the front office ranks in an unorthodox fashion, given his inexperience in football.
With that prompting for an unflattering Sports Illustrated talk about Easterby’s time in Houston, there have been a growing number of questions regarding the level of power that appears to have been bestowed by Texans owner and CEO Cal McNair.
Star player Deshaun Watson is troubled by the front office leadership involved with Easterby. Combine that with legendary Texans wide receiver Andre Johnson who showed up against Easterby on Twitter earlier this week, with several current and former players supporting his position, and it’s no surprise to hear speculation about the potential departure of ‘Team Easterby.
“I think it was really an interesting sign – I don’t even know how many people know that – that Jack Easterby was basically told not to speak to Sports Illustrated when this damning report came out,” King said.

“So when that happens my feeling is – and again, it’s probably an exaggeration – but when I heard that it reminded me of Scott Pioli in Kansas City when he was really tarnished by Todd Haley, the former head coach there. They didn’t want him to talk. Well, what happens next? Soon after I forgot how long, but Pioli was left. “
It should be noted, however, that at no point did King state that this opinion was based on sources.
“I think it’s a matter of time before Jack Easterby is gone,” King said. “As to why this hasn’t happened yet, I don’t know the answer.”
