Cardi B walks over to the big screen.

According to Variety, “Bodak Yellow” rapper set to debut in upcoming film Aid to life. Paramount’s image is described as a ‘boisterous comedy’ with a ‘formidable heart’, much like classic comedy films like Sister Act, Mrs. Doubtfire, and Tootsie.

According to the outlet, Cardi plays a little crook who quickly finds herself “over her head when a robbery goes wrong.” On the run and struggling to find a suitable hiding place, she disguises herself as an elderly woman and hides in the one place no one would think of looking for: the nursing home where her estranged grandmother lives.

Although Aid to life will mark the megastar rapper’s first stint in a leading role, not her first time in a big movie. Most recently, Cardi played a minor but stage thief alongside Jennifer Lopez, Constance Wu, Keke Palmer and Lizzo in the critically acclaimed stripper film directed by Lorene Scafaria, Hustlers. The star is no stranger to television either, having debuted as a cultural force and then thriving rapper on the reality show VHI. Love and hip hop, she was on from 2015 to 2017, and as a judge for the Netflix music competition series produced by John Legend, Rhythm + Flow.

Aid to life was reportedly in a bidding war last spring, with the narrative based on an original spec script from It’s us writer Kay Oyegun.
