The Flyers-Penguins match kicked off the NBC Sports Network’s three-time title, which averaged a total audience of 774,000 viewers, giving the network its most-watched multi-game opening night on record.
Most fans seemed to fully appreciate the Flyers-Penguins game start time at 5:30 p.m. ET. Without having to worry about fans heading into the arena during rush hour after work, a start time of 5:30 p.m. ET on a Wednesday made sense. Fans were thirsty to watch hockey, didn’t have to wait too long, and didn’t have to get up too late.
