In both Bears-Saints games this year, Saints cornerback CJ Gardner-Johnson spoke trash to a Bears wide receiver, only to get that receiver ejected for hitting him. Bears president George McCaskey had strong words for Gardner-Johnson and for his own player’s inability to stop Gardner-Johnson from getting under his skin.
McCaskey said on WMVP-AM that after Gardner-Johnson baited Bears wide receiver Javon Wims in a regular season ejection, the Bears coaching staff warned players that Gardner-Johnson would try to bait them during the playoff rematch. And McCaskey is frustrated that Anthony Miller was still trapped.
“I have a bigger problem with Anthony’s ejection because they made him sit down and they said, ‘Look, watch out for that player. He’s a punk. He will try to get under your skin. And with Darnell Mooney out, we really need you to be in this game and help this team, ”McCaskey said, via the Chicago Sun-Times. “And Anthony had the benefit of seeing Javon’s experience. I think they should be evaluated separately. I have a bigger problem with Anthony’s ejection than Javon’s.
When asked if Miller would return to the Bears next year, McCaskey replied, “It’s not up to me.”
