A beloved 65-year-old Santa Monica bakery is about to close.

Vienna Pâtisserie (1215 Wilshire Blvd) has been making pastries, pies and candies for 65 years that have been loved by generations of Santa Monica residents. In 1988, the Khadavi family took over the bakery after fleeing the Islamic revolution in Iran. The family has run the business since then with three sisters who take care of the baking and family members take care of the other operations. Now that the bakery is making 40 percent less, the rent is in arrears, and a landlord wants to raise the rent, the bakery is about to close.

To attract new customers, Vienna Pastry is expanding its menu to include vegan and healthier offerings alongside an awareness campaign on social media. In addition, customers and friends at the bakery have set up a GoFundMe to help cover the rent.
