Last week, Ariel Pink and John Maus were both in Washington, DC to attend Donald Trump’s rally – the one where Trump instigated his supporters to storm the Capitol. When the public found out about Pink’s presence in Washington, Pink insisted that he had not participated in the riot. He also said a lot about his support for Trump, saying the election was’ stolen ‘and that’ the reason the left / mainstream media made it practically a crime for people to support him is due to his unprecedented success as US President. . Soon after, Mexican Summer, Pink’s label, dropped him.
Yesterday, it became known that Pink’s ex-girlfriend had accused him of physical and sexual abuse in a trial in Los Angeles. Pink had sought a restraining order against her, apparently in an attempt to prevent her from going public with her claims against him. A judge ruled against Pink in the case on the same day Pink was in Washington for the rally.
Last night, Pink sat down with Tucker Carlson on Carlson’s nighttime program on Fox News. Carlson attempted to support Pink as someone who had been a victim of “cancellation culture,” and Pink was happy to play the victim. Carlson created Pink by saying that Pink is an artist and artists do transgressive things: “You did the most transgressive thing. You have become a public supporter of Trump.
Pink, stammering and visibly on the verge of tears, said the media had attempted to portray him as one of the rioters on Capitol Hill: “I was there for a peaceful rally. That’s all it was to me. But there’s no fact-checking or anything like that. 130 articles were published in 24 hours. (I haven’t seen a single media outlet claim that Pink was one of the Trump supporters who stormed the Capitol.)
Pink also told the story of Mexican Summer who let her down. He claimed the label initially assured him that they would support him but changed their minds: “They succumbed to the crop cancellation.” He told a great bloody story about where it leaves him: “It leaves me virtually destitute and on the streets. I do not know. I’m a little overwhelmed at the moment and I don’t know exactly what to do… I can’t even afford my lawyer yet. He complained that Biden’s supporters were “bad winners,” and Carlson caught the expression.
