Designer Tommy Hilfiger sold his luxurious Greenwich estate for $ 45 million just months after listing the 22-acre property amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The sprawling French Norman-style residence was purchased by Hilfiger and his wife, former model Dee Ocleppo, in 2010 for $ 31.3 million, the Wall Street Journal reported.
According to Business Insider, the six-bedroom property was listed by Sotheby’s International Realty and sold for about $ 2.7 million below the original asking price. An agreement to buy the property was reached in November – four weeks after it was put up for sale. However, the sale price was not disclosed at the time.
The buyer of the Hilfiger estate, whose identity is kept anonymous, was represented by Sally Slater of Douglas Elliman.

Hilfiger, who has repaired and sold seven homes in the affluent city over the past 35 years, sold the home at a time when New Yorkers fleeing the COVID-19 pandemic are driving up Greenwich property values.
“My real estate friends tell me the market is very strong and hasn’t been in years,” he told the Journal last year.
While waiting for a buyer, Hilfiger and his wife were looking for a new home in Palm Beach, Florida.
Hilfiger said they have been considering the move for a long time, but COVID-19 has accelerated their timeline.
And while the pandemic is partly to blame for the couple’s move, Hilfiger said it wasn’t the only reason.
“As creatives, we’re always looking for that next project,” he told the Journal.
In addition to the swimming pool, the new owners can exercise via a game of tennis on the courts

The house, which was built in 1939 for real estate investor Charles Vincent Paterno, sits atop Round Hill Road. It was built by the famous architect Greville Rickard.
According to the Journal, the residence also belonged to the prolific financier and art collector Joseph Hirshhorn.
Hilfiger said he and his wife spent three years working on the house after it fell into disrepair.
He told the newspaper that they had redone the mechanics and wiring of the house. They also added new plumbing and ventilation.
Hilfiger said they even hired a company in Turkey to make the terracotta tiles to match the originals and hired landscape architect Miranda Brooks to design the gardens, hedges and fountains.
The couple spent millions on the project, which Hilfiger said “ took a lot of patience. ”

In the family room an 18th century French fireplace has been installed and there is also a wine cellar and tasting room.
The residence also includes a guest house which is equipped with a kitchen, two bedrooms and a separate garage.
Meanwhile, the exterior features are breathtaking.
The house features a renovated swimming pool and tennis court, as well as a rose garden, koi pond, and lawn that overlooks Long Island Sound.
