“Peaky Blinders” ending after 6 seasons

Although the series has recently resumed production due to the coronavirus, the BBC has confirmed that Season 6 will bring the series to a close.

Fans of Cillian Murphy and the BBC drama ‘Peaky Blinders’ have bad news. The sixth season of the series will be the last, according to a report on Variety.

The show, created by Oscar-nominated director Steven Knight, tells the story of Tommy Shelby (Murphy) and his family’s rise to power throughout the city of working-class Birmingham after World War I, though the series recently resumed production due to the coronavirus, the BBC has confirmed that season 6 will bring the series to a close.

This move is a bit shocking given that Knight had recently sat down with Entertainment Weekly last year and was hoping the series would continue beyond Season 6. But based on the lingering issues in the global market for concerns the filming, it is assumed that this precipitated the demise of the series.

‘Peaky’ is back and with a bang, “Knight said in a prepared statement.” After the forced production delay due to the Covid pandemic we find the family in extreme danger and the stakes have never been higher We believe this will be the best series of all and are sure our amazing fans will love it. As the TV series comes to an end, the story will continue in another form. “The belief is that the series could see a spin-off or a final film down the line, in the vein of the movie “Deadwood” released in 2019.

“Peaky Blinders” made its UK debut in 2013. In Season 3, actor Tom Hardy joined the cast, reuniting with Knight who worked with him on the feature film “Locke”. The entire series has become available for streaming through Netflix.

There is currently no word on when the sixth and final season of “Peaky Blinders” will air.
