2 Mega Millions tickets worth $ 1 million sold in New Jersey as jackpot climbs to $ 970 million

Two Mega Millions tickets worth $ 1 million were purchased in New Jersey for Tuesday’s lottery draw, but again, no one across the country won the jackpot, carrying the top prize from Friday to about $ 970 million.

The New Jersey tickets were among 11 second-prize tickets purchased nationwide, each corresponding to five numbers, but the Mega Ball was not. New Jersey lottery officials will disclose the retailers who sold the lucky tickets later Wednesday.

Friday’s jackpot will potentially be the third largest in US lottery history and offer a cash option of at least $ 716.3 million.

Other million dollar bills were sold in Florida, Illinois, Kansas, Mississippi, Pennsylvania and Washington state. A ticket to California is valued at $ 1,401,723. California Lottery prices vary based on ticket sales and number of winners. They differ from the second fixed prices offered in other participating states.

Additionally, two more Florida tickets are worth $ 2 million each as they were purchased with the Megaplier option for $ 1 more.

The winning numbers for Tuesday were: 10, 19, 26, 28 and 50. The drawn Mega Ball was 16 with a Megaplier of 2X.

Thirty-six draws have taken place since Adrian Tongson of Racine, Wisconsin hit the $ 120 million jackpot on September 15. He chose the cash option and won $ 95.4 million pre-tax.

Mega Millions tickets cost $ 2 each and in New Jersey must be purchased by 10:45 p.m. on the night of the draw. The odds of a ticket hitting the jackpot by matching five numbers and the Mega Ball are 302,575,350 to 1. Players have a shot of 1 in 12,607,306 to win the second prize of at least $ 1 million by matching five numbers.

The game is played in 45 states, Washington DC and the US Virgin Islands.
