Pirro was upset that her ex-husband Albert J. Pirro Jr. was not on Trump’s final pardon list released early Wednesday morning, and that message was passed on to the White House and its former resident, according to a former adviser of the White House. . Albert Pirro has been found guilty of conspiracy and tax evasion charges after improperly deducting $ 1.2 million from his personal expenses in business write-offs.

A separate source familiar with the matter told CNN that Albert Pirro was not on the grace radar until Wednesday morning. It was not until noon that day that the assistants, who were in the process of stepping down from their duties with the new administration, were told that it had to be done.

The order came as a total surprise and forced attendants to scramble to make it happen before the noon ET deadline, when Trump’s tenure ended.

Minutes after Trump landed in Florida after his last Air Force One flight from Washington, Judd Deere, now a former White House deputy press secretary, issued a statement announcing that “Today , President Donald J. Trump has bestowed a full pardon on Albert J. Pirro, Jr. “

Pirro joins a slew of individuals who received last-minute pardons and commutations on Wednesday morning from Trump, including his former political strategist Steve Bannon, former major fundraiser Elliott Broidy and well-known rappers Lil Wayne and Kodak Black – but not Trump himself or his family. The list reflected a president eager to bestow pardons on his staunch allies, an unusual number of whom have been swept aside by accusations of bribery or lying.

Irena Briganti, Fox News executive vice president for corporate communications, did not respond to a request for comment.

Jeanine Pirro, one of Fox News’ top-rated weekend hosts, is well known for her vehement defenses of Trump and attacks on his suspected enemies. She attended her annual New Years party last month.
Trump, in turn, had the TV host’s back in 2019 when he called on Fox News to “bring back” Pirro after she was suspended by the network over her widely criticized comment questioning the patriotism of Democratic Representative Ilhan Omar, a source close to the matter told CNN at the time.
“Bring back @JudgeJeanine Pirro”, Trump tweeted. “The radical left-wing Democrats, working closely with their beloved partner, Fake News Media, are using every trick in the book to SILENT a majority of our country. They all have campaigns against the @FoxNews hosts who are doing their own thing. Very good.”

Pirro targeted Omar – one of the few Muslim members of Congress – by noting the religious headgear of Minnesotan.

“Think about it: Omar wears a hijab,” Pirro said. “Does his adherence to this Islamic doctrine indicate his adherence to Sharia law, which in itself is contrary to the Constitution of the United States?”

Her remarks prompted Fox to say, “We strongly condemn Jeanine Pirro’s comments” and that the views she expressed “do not reflect those of the network and we have raised the matter directly with her.”

CNN’s Brian Stelter, Betsy Klein, Kevin Liptak and Kaitlan Collins contributed to this report.
