EXCLUSIVE: We just learned that Josh Hartnett is set to star alongside Jason Statham, Cary Elwes and Aubrey Plaza in their latest Miramax / STX spy thriller which carried the title. Five eyes. The film, which is temporarily untitled, represents the second collaboration between Hartnett and Ritchie after Anger of man, another Jason Statham-Ritchie combo slated for release this year.
Ritchie directs and produces the film from a screenplay written by Ivan Atkinson and Marn Davies (Gentlemen, the wrath of man), with revisions by Ritchie. Atkinson will also produce. Bill Block produces for Miramax, which also fully funds the film, and STX has acquired the global rights and will distribute directly in the US, UK and Ireland and the rest of the world through its network of international distribution partners.
The report follows MI6 arms and steel agent (Statham) who is recruited by a global intelligence agency to hunt down and stop the sale of deadly new weapons technology that threatens to disrupt world order . Reluctantly partnered with the CIA’s tech expert, Fortune embarks on a globetrotting mission where he must use all of his charm, ingenuity, and stealth to hunt down and infiltrate a billionaire arms broker. The film is currently filming in Doha, Qatar, but then moves production to Turkey.
Hartnett will be seen in the upcoming Raoul Peck Destroy all the bullies for HBO. He starred last year in the crime thriller The most wanted, and his credits include Pearl Harbor, Sin City, The Black Dahlia, Black Hawk Down, The Virgin Suicides, and the comic action series Quibi The deer with Kevin Hart and John Travolta.
