An industry leader never released a video game on a platform Nintendo is the US developer and publisher Valve.

Despite this, the founder of the company, Gabe Newell, is still a big fan of the creator of Mario. In a recent interview with outlet 1 News, Newell was asked if he still regularly plays games himself and took a brief moment between a conversation about Apex Legends and Cyberpunk 2077 to praise Shigeru Miyamoto.

“Playing Miyamoto’s games is like, a, they’re a lot of fun, but I can’t think of any of his games that I’ve ever played that hasn’t made me better as a game developer. “

A few years ago, Gabe’s son revealed how he and his father visited Nintendo HQ in Japan and played Super mario galaxy alongside Miyamoto. The two video game legends were apparently talking about a “joint project” at the time, but “it was super laid back” and nothing ever came of it.

Newell is obviously not the first high-profile developer to pay homage to Nintendo’s most famous employee – even Nintendo employees are still excited and inspired by him.

Gabe is best known for the Half life series and its digital distribution game service Steam, and is currently living in New Zealand due to the pandemic state in America.
