Chelsea players young and old thank Lampard for his trust, advice and lessons

[ad_1]

Frank Lampard’s three-year project was only halfway through before the hammer came down from above and put an end to all the sentimentality. Come back to reality.

But Lampard has certainly left his mark in the 18 months he has held the reins of management, and not just bringing back some much-needed good vibes.

He and his assistant Jody Morris engineered a massive paradigm shift by breaking down the proverbial barriers between the youth squad and the first squad and paving the way for the best kids to make the leap to the seniors (through loans or no). Lampard set a modern club record by giving no less than eight Academy youngsters their debuts and making themselves known among Mason Mount, Tammy Abraham, Reece James and Billy Gilmour. Their involvement with the first team is expected to continue regardless of who is next in charge – and I hope the next generation of Academy stars have their chance as well.

Unsurprisingly, it was the Cobham Kids who were among the first to send their best to the starting head coach, but they weren’t the only ones, with newcomers or veterans like Thiago Silva and César Azpilicueta as well, most thanking Chelsea. legend to pass on some of his invaluable knowledge and experiences and to have faith in them.

One thing is clear, Lampard was highly respected by (the majority) in the locker room. Of course, those who didn’t play probably weren’t so excited, but the factors that led to his sacking didn’t depend on a single player or even a group of players. Let us remember the good times and look forward to better times to come.

(Try to resist the urge to keep score with these things. Not all gamers live on their phones or care about social media.)

TAMMY ABRAHAM

Put it succinctly and perfectly: “A role model, mentor and great manager.”

REECE JAMES

Like many, Reece idolized Lampard growing up. And that doesn’t change.

BILLY GILMOUR

Hopefully Billy G continues his meteoric rise and the next manager trusts him as much as Lampard.

MASON ASSEMBLY

Captain in Lampard’s last match. It doesn’t get much more symbolic than that. (Mount also thanks Morris in particular, which was great to see!)

BEN CHILWELL

Obviously, we have to thank Lampard first and foremost for having Chilwell at the club.

CHRISTIAN PULISIC

Not all observers liked Pulisic’s trip under Lampard, but he thanked Lampard for his trust nonetheless.

CAESAR AZPILICUETA

Teammates once. Legends forever.

THIAGO SILVA

And speaking of legends. Silva is very present on social media and knows a thing or two about respect.

EDWARD MENDY

Mendy’s story is wonderful and his goalie is almost as good too.

MICHY BATSHUAYI

Of course, a social media roundup features Michy, even though he only played for about six months under Lampard.

We’ll update this article if more players post goodbyes on social media in the coming days.

Until then, here is John Terry with the ultimate truth. Legends Forever, indeed.
