Georgia have a new defensive back coach in Jahmile Addae, as the Bulldogs formalized the hiring on Wednesday.
Addae had spent the previous two seasons in West Virginia, his alma mater. He also has coaching experience in Cincinnati, Minnesota and Arizona.
Georgia coach Kirby Smart shared his thoughts on Addae and what he will bring to the Georgia schedule.
“We are delighted to add Jahmile to our staff and welcome him and his family to Athens,” Smart said in a statement. “Having himself been an all-conference goalie while playing for West Virginia, we believe Jahmile will strengthen our team both as a former player who understood the game as well as with his coaching knowledge. high level over the past decade.

Addae will replace Charlton Warren, who has left to become Indiana’s defensive coordinator. Addae is the only coaching hire Georgia has made for on-field assistants so far this offseason.

Like Smart, Addae played in the defensive backfield in college as he did for the West Virginia Mountaineers. He’s been to All-Big East safe twice and played for the West Virginia team that beat Georgia at the 2006 Sugar Bowl.
West Virginia had the nation’s first pass defense in 2020 with Addae coaching West Virginia cornerbacks. Addae coached two All-Big 12 defensemen at Keith Washington II and Josh Norwood.
Addae will have a big challenge in his first year in Georgia as the Bulldogs need to replace a number of key parts in high school. Multi-year starters Eric Stokes, Tyson Campbell, Richard LeCounte and Mark Webb have all left for the NFL. The same goes for local DJ Daniel, while Tyrique Stevenson is transferred to Miami.
The Bulldogs are talented in high school, as comebacks like Lewis Cine and Chris Smith in safety. There are also talented but unproven players like Kelee Ringo and Nyland Green who will be looking to make an impact.
Addae also has a recruiting battle to focus on right away, as the Bulldogs compete with Alabama and Florida for 4-star defensive back Terrion Arnold. National Signing Day is February 3.
However, Smart will always be very involved in high school, as it always has given his background.
