A woman has the ‘melon-sized’ lipoma from her shoulder removed in a procedure she describes as ‘mission impossible’ in Dr Pimple Popper.
On tonight’s episode of TLC, Jackie, 50, from Indiana, explains how, for the past nine years, she has lived with a huge ball the size of a bowling ball on her back. right shoulder.

“I have suffered from this disease for about nine years, it was really small but it was overwhelming,” she reveals. “About a year ago my height tripled and I was seen by a family doctor. He just said it was a very common tumor.
Prior to the appearance of the bump, Jackie led an active and social life. But now she feels too embarrassed to go out and has retired to her garden.
“Since the bump grew, I’ve avoided people whenever I can,” she admits. “If I hadn’t worked my garden, I would probably never leave my house. I’m in a shell now, whereas before I was more out and about and bubbly.
In addition to the impact the bump has on her daily life, it causes Jackie constant pain and discomfort.
“I just want to sit down and block the whole world and get some stability,” she says. “Most of the time, I can’t even be comfortable doing this.
Jackie’s bump also hampered her rapper husband’s plans to involve him in one of his homemade hip-hop videos.

“He really wants me to be on camera with him, but most of the time I’m no, no, no,” Jackie says.
Above all, she just wants to be her old self again.
“It would be nice to wake up and look at yourself in the mirror and not see this huge thing on my back,” she says.
At the end of her phone call, Jackie travels to California to see Dr Pimple Popper – aka dermatologic surgeon Dr Sandra Lee – at her new COVID-friendly outdoor clinic to see if she can say goodbye to the lump on her long ago. back.
Having previously had a video consultation with Jackie, Dr Lee is now able to see Jackie’s back bump for the first time in the flesh.
Without putting Jackie under the knife, she won’t know for sure, but based on the scan, the expert suspects she has a lipoma.
“There are small silos, which means there are small groups going through it that keep it in place,” she explains. “It’s sort of confined in this net of fibrous tissue, which makes it more difficult to remove.”
Examining it first-hand, Dr Lee is shocked at how heavy Jackie’s mass is.
“It’s starting to get heavier, it’s quite heavy,” she said.
Due to the size of the lipoma, Dr Lee warns Jackie that there is a chance she may not be able to remove it, but promises that they will open it and see what they are dealing with.
“I have a little stress and a little anxiety, but I try to overcome doubts and make it a great day,” says Jackie.
Brought into the operating room, Jackie has her melon-sized shoulder rock numbed with local anesthetic, ready for Dr. Lee to make his first incision.
Slicing through the top and center of the bump, Jackie’s taut skin splits open, revealing a jelly-shaped ball of yellow fat. Dr. Lee’s suspicions are confirmed: it’s a lipoma.
“So far, it looks good,” Dr Lee says as she begins to wiggle her finger, trying to squeeze the lipoma out of Jackie’s skin. But soon, the expert realizes the extent of the work she has in her hands.
“I can smell all these little threads, I shouldn’t have spoken too soon! she admits. “ I was right, this lipoma is definitely going to be a fight, there’s a lot of septa, there’s a lot of firm, scar-like tissue that holds this lipoma in place. ”
Unable to remove the lipoma in one go, the delicate nature in which the lipoma formed forces Dr. Lee to remove it piece by piece, as she gradually pushes it out of Jackie’s back.

As Dr Lee says, it’s a difficult procedure that takes persistence.
“There’s a room that’s full of laser beams, but now it’s silos, and I’m trying to get this lipoma out without cutting anything that I’m not supposed to do,” she says. “It’s like an impossible lipoma mission!”
Carefully, Dr. Lee removes the massive lipoma piece by piece, and after what appears to be ages, Jackie is finally lipoma free.
“Jackie’s lipoma gave me problems, I think I got it all,” Dr Lee said, breathing a sigh of relief. “Impossible lipoma: mission accomplished!”
Using a hand mirror, Jackie glimpses her lipoma free shoulder and can’t believe her eyes.
“Oh my God, that looks so awesome! Jackie said happily. “ There isn’t a huge bump in there anymore, and seeing my skin flat, seeing the stitches, then looking and being able to see my tattoo again, haven’t seen this tattoo in nine years! ”
Hopped up on some scales, Jackie’s lipoma weighs over 6 pounds.
“I can’t believe this isn’t from me, it’s so amazing! she says.
