Ninja Theory stops Bleeding Edge

Development completed on Bleeding edge, Less than a year after the launch of multiplayer melee combat on Windows PC and Xbox One.

Developer Ninja Theory announced the ending on Thursday, noting that Bleeding edge remains active and playable. It just never drew a lot of an audience. SteamCharts counted the game’s PC player count to an average of 480 during its March 2020 launch month, and it has been declining since.

Bleeding edge was announced at E3 2019. The game featured four-player teams, drawn from a roster of 13 bizarre characters, battling it out with sleek melee and ranged weapons. It was the first Xbox One game developed by Ninja Theory after Microsoft acquired the studio in 2018.

Ninja Theory now turns all of its attention to Senua’s saga: Hellblade 2, the sequel to the award-winning 2017 series Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice. Senua’s saga was announced at the 2019 Game Awards; it does not yet have a launch date but it will launch on Windows PCs and Xbox Series X.
