Crystal Dynamics intends to unify Lara Croft’s two canonical calendars as the Tomb Raider franchise celebrates its 25th anniversary, the studio said in a Twitter video Wednesday afternoon.

The official Tomb Raider Silver Anniversary celebrations will begin on February 1, said Meagan Marie, Community Manager for Crystal Dynamics. Marie also touched on the Tomb Raider Netflix animated series, announced on Wednesday, which also fits into that official, unified timeline. The Tomb Raider anime takes place after the events of the video game reboot trilogy, which includes the years 2013 tomb Raider, 2015 Rise of the Tomb Raiderand 2018 Shadow of the Tomb Raider.

Later, said franchise game director Will Kerslake, “We envision a future of Tomb Raider unfolding after these well-established adventures” – referring to the two games developed by Core Design (1996’s tomb Raider through the years 2003 Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness) and the series in the hands of Crystal Dynamics since 2006 Tomb Raider: Legend.

While Crystal Dynamics has no major game announcements to make “in the near future,” the studio “is working to unify those timelines,” Kerslake said.

“With Tomb Raider’s long history, this is no easy task, and we ask you to be patient during the development process,” he added.
