Hours after Steelers president Art Rooney II said the team couldn’t handle Ben Roethlisberger’s cap hit, Roethlisberger said he had no problem restructuring his contract to help the team .

Roethlisberger told TheAthletic.com’s Ed Bouchette that he was okay with everything Rooney said and was ready, willing and able to do what the Steelers needed him to lower his huge cap of $ 41.25 million for the 2021 season.

“I want to do everything I can and I made it very clear to them from the start that it was my idea to help the team in any way I can this year,” said Roethlisberger. “I don’t care about my pay at all this year.

Roethlisberger has indicated that he sees 2021 as his last and best chance to win another Super Bowl ring, and he didn’t want his cap touched to hold the Steelers back.

“I’m pretty sure I want to go for another year [because] I think I can do it and give us a real chance and win, ”Roethlisberger said.

Reducing Roethlisberger’s cap hit was going to be the Steelers’ top priority this offseason. With Roethlisberger’s cooperation, this shouldn’t be a problem.
