Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (right) said Texas will not sit still and allow the Biden administration to destroy jobs in Lone Star state and on Thursday signed an executive order ordering all state agencies prepare to challenge any federal action that threatens the Texas energy industry.

Abbott announced Thursday that the state will take action to protect the oil and gas industry while promising to veto any “new green deal” legislation, if passed, while simultaneously proposing legislation to prevent the ban of gas appliances.

“I am in Midland to make it clear that Texas is going to protect the oil and gas industry from any kind of hostile attack launched from Washington DC,” Abbott said. “President Biden’s adoption of the new green deal is a job killer in Texas. It also takes a turning point for the energy independence that Texas has been able to deliver to the United States of America and Texas is not going to sit idly by and watch the Biden administration cut jobs in Midland, at Odessa or any other place in the whole region. “

Abbott then signed an executive order directing every state agency “to use all legal powers and tools to challenge any federal action that threatens the continued strength and vitality of the energy industry. the state should work to identify potential litigation, report and comment on possibilities and any other means to prevent federal overbreadth in law.

And when they do, Abbott said, “it will arm Texas to be ready to fight back.”

Abbott said he was also proposing legislation that would prevent local cities and counties from acting to derail oil and gas energy by banning natural gas appliances in new buildings. An action he said was recently taken in San Francisco.

“In Texas, we won’t let cities use political correctness to dictate what source of energy you use,” Abbott said.

During the panel discussion, Abbott spoke with oil and gas workers, energy leaders and advocates on how Texas can continue to support workers in the aftermath of COVID- 19 and reassured his intention to protect the energy industry.

“If anyone adopts a ‘new green deal’ type policy in Texas, it will be vetoed by the governor and will not become law in our state,” Abbott said.

Abbott’s full address will be added to this article on Thursday afternoon.
