Jonathon Cooper bolsters draft stock with impressive Senior Bowl

Jonathon Cooper had a remarkable storybook career at Ohio State.

He played his best football in the last streak of his time with the Buckeyes, which certainly bolstered his draft supply throughout the eight-game season. A week at the Senior Bowl has the same impact for Cooper, as his impressive game turns the heads of NFL scouts in the pre-draft.

Cooper faced some of the nation’s best offensive linemen this week at the Senior Bowl – and won, providing a glimpse of what he can do to the next level when he’s healthy. After making red shirts for the 2019 season, Cooper returned as captain to make another college football playoff run – which he did – and show he can play defense at the level of the team. NFL. He did that.

He’s also showing off his skills to scouts at the Senior Bowl this week.

New Talking Stuff: The Ohio State Recruiting Podcast

NCAA has started recruiting talks quiet period beginning April 16 – meaning the currently imposed dead period would remain until April 15 – and end on June 30, giving players across the country a window to make university visits for the first time since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic last March while banning coaches from visiting recruits.

Now that there is the potential spring visits on the table, there is at least some hope from the state of Ohio that the nation’s No.1 player, JT Tuimoloau, will be able to finalize some sort of schedule for his own. visits and finally his choice of university. There’s no question the Buckeyes will have a spot available for him, but beyond that there are questions about how roster management interests them more this spring.

And that’s why the continued pursuit of linebacker Raesjon Davis and the recent transfer from Tennessee Henry To’oto’o deserve special attention.
