Yesterday TESLA announced its Model S update which brings a range of new features including an all new infotainment system that brings 10 TFLOPs of power, the same power as Sony’s PS5 and would be powered by the Navi GPU. 23 based on AMD’s RDNA 2.
The TESLA Model S 2021 offers the same gaming power as Sony’s PS5 and can run Cyberpunk 2077, powered by AMD’s Navi 23 RDNA 2 GPU
According to TESLA, its infotainment system will be based on the Tesla Gaming Arcade platform. It comes with a 17-inch main cinematic screen offering 2200×1300 resolution and a secondary screen for second row passengers.
TESLA claims its infotainment system allows up to 10 TFLOPs of processing power, which is comparable to current generation consoles such as the Sony PS5. The infotainment system is wireless controller compatible and lets you play from any seat. And while TESLA doesn’t mention any specs for this particular system, the hardware scene does have an idea of what might be under the hood of the latest TESLA S model.
One of the first people to report that the Tesla Model S would use an AMD RDNA 2 GPU was Patrick Schur, a very respectable insider for various hardware leaks. According to him, TESLA Model S will use the Navi 23 GPU which is a derivative of the Navi 2 SKUs and the smallest of the group. The Navi 21 GPU is featured on premium and flagship designs while the Navi 22 GPU will focus on the consumer segment. The Navi 23 GPU will be aimed at the entry-level segment, but it still matches existing consoles.
In a block diagram taken from TESLA Motors themselves, it is shown that the Navi 23 GPU will actually power the infotainment system on the Tesla Model S 2021. It has a 128-bit bus interface with four 2 GB DRAM modules that allow 8 GB of GDDR6 memory (K4ZAF325XM dies). The memory would operate at 14 Gbps to provide a total bandwidth of 224 Gbps. The AMD Navi 23 GPU would connect to the main B2B connector via a PCIe Gen 3 x8 link and have HDMI 1.4.
There is no specification for the GPU configuration provided, but it is assumed that the Navi 23 GPU would have a maximum of 32 compute units or 2,048 cores. A clock speed of up to 2.44 GHz would be required to achieve 10 TFLOPs of computing power. Other details mentioned in the block diagram of the GPU include a 4-phase power regulator and various thermal diodes and a 100 MHz oscillator. No details regarding the TDP or thermal power of the AMD Navi 23 GPU are mentioned.

He can play Cyberpunk
– Elon Musk (@elonmusk) January 28, 2021
Elon Musk himself says the infotainment system can play Cyberpunk 2077, which means the system has enough horsepower to run every game released to date. The 2021 Plaid Model S will ship next month for US $ 79,990. You can find out more here.
