Capitals’ insane comeback trumps Islanders in memes

Last night’s 6-3 win over the New York Islanders was a roller coaster of emotions. And once again, the Washington Capitals’ social media relied on the memes to perfectly portray the emotions of Caps fans.

After finishing the first half 3-0 down it didn’t look good for the Caps, but when they came out for the second half they were ready to show the Isles who’s boss. Conor Sheary scored his first pair of goals as capital, followed by Garnet Hathaway’s tying goal. In three minutes, the match was tied.

Speechless after Carlson’s goal

Three minutes later, on the power play, John Carlson sent a steal from Ovechkin Square to give the Caps their first 4-3 lead of the night. Like most Caps fans, the Capitals twitter was also speechless.

Bestie vibrates only after Chara scores

With a minute to go in the second, Zdeno Chara snatched a slap shot from the point to score his first goal as Capital. The Caps went mad on the bench to celebrate the first goal of the great ZEE while extending the lead 5-3. The team were so happy for Chara and gave him lots of nods.

The Capitals twitter followed with a very important question about Chara to which the answer is of course yes.

Was the second period even real?

Once the period was over, the Capitals’ Twitter reflected on what had just happened and they were just as shocked as the rest of us.

Caps took out the big guns in the second

The Caps released another meme to show off just how crazy the game’s first two periods were.

Use the ‘L’ meme against rivals

Perhaps the best post of the night came from our own Ian Oland after the selections took the win. After fans predicted some “haters” would photoshop an L on the Caps’ new third shirt after a potential loss on Tuesday night, Oland showed that the only one to get an L was the Islanders. The Capitals are yet to lose in settlement as they set a new franchise record for eight straight opening games with at least one point.
