According to THR, this new movie will be a direct sequel to Cloverfield, which ended on a cliffhanger that is not clear on whether the nuclear explosion that occurs in the film’s final moments actually killed the Manhattan terrorizing monster.Matt Reeves, who is currently working on The Batman, was the director of Cloverfield and THR reports that he is not involved in the sequel. He made Cloverfield for $ 25 million and then grossed $ 172 million at the box office. With this sequel ditching the approach to footage found to be generally cheaper, it’s easy to see this film’s budget skyrocket beyond $ 25 million. Only time will tell if audiences will show up to make it as successful as the original.
