Of all the cinematic universes that have arisen since Marvel and Disney finally proved that a massive, company-wide film crossover could net you billions and billions of dollars if actually well done, few were built so seamlessly after the fact that Bad Robot and Paramount Assumed Cloverfield movie franchise. Say what you like about the mold remnants of Universal’s Dark Universe, but at least most of them (largely hypothetical)oofy-ass monster movies were created as members of the franchise. While JJ Abrams and his team have had a strange tendency to make films in Cloverfield movies after the fact; both 10 Cloverfield Lane and The Cloverfield Paradox were initially conceived as stand-alone projects which then ended up CloverfieldOnce Abrams got his hands on scripts.

All this should be noted our surprise today, like Variety reports one Cloverfield following that Actually started life as Cloverfield the rest would now be in preparation. Indeed, the new film – written by Joe Barton – will be supposed to serve as an explicit sequel to Abrams’ 2008 monster movie, i.e. the one that actually sparked our collective cases of Cloverfield fever asking us to imagine what it would be like if TJ Miller were the most supernatural in the world devoted cameraman.

That being said, the vanity of the found footage from the original film won’t be repeated for this second (fourth?) Movie, as it is, well, 2021. Hhopefully he won’t give up on the original “What a Godzilla does the film look at street level? “vanity, however, because that – with wise marketing – was about the best thing than the original the film was intended.

Abrams will be producing on the film. Barton recently made headlines as HBO Max’s showrunner The batman spin off TelevisionsHow? ‘Or’ What.
