Almost 19,000 additional doses of vaccine are injected, bringing the state’s total to more than 300,000.
The Utah Department of Health reported administering nearly 19,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine in the past day – the highest daily number of vaccines injected since vaccinations began in the state last month .
The welcome record arrived on Saturday with 242,784 people in the state now receiving the first dose and 57,732 receiving both.
The state has already crossed 16,000 doses administered in a single day. But this is the first time that it has exceeded 18,000.
The day also brought other good trends. Overall, hospitalizations have declined, as have the number of patients in intensive care units. There has been only a modest increase in new cases of the virus, while the seven-day average has also declined.

There have been five deaths in Salt Lake County. They were a man and a woman, both aged 45 to 64; a woman aged 65 to 84; and a man and a woman, both over 85 years old.
In addition, there was one death each in Cache County – a man aged 65 to 84; Davis County – male, 65 to 84 years old; and Weber County – a woman aged 85 and over.
Hospitalizations reported the day before • 430. It’s 16 less than Friday. Of those currently hospitalized, 139 are in intensive care units – nine fewer than Friday.
Tests reported the day before • 8.768.
Percentage of positive tests • 16.74%. This is slightly below the seven-day average of 18%.
Totals to date • 345,430 cases; 1,663 deaths; 13,427 hospitalizations; 2,018,175 tests.
