The Gonzaga Bulldogs will be deprived of the services of the Oumar Ballo Safeguard Center for the next few weeks, Mark Few revealed after tonight’s victory over Pepperdine.
Mark Few said the initial indication on Oumar Ballo (thumb injury) was that he would be out for 3-4 weeks, but expected to know more by Monday or Tuesday.

Not much has been said about the nature of the injury or how it occurred. Ballo has now missed the last two games due to injury.
The Red Shirt rookie is averaging just 3.5 points in 8.3 minutes per game, but those minutes are pretty big for Gonzaga’s rotation. With Drew Timme taking the lion’s share of those center minutes, Ballo is the only legitimate center (in terms of size) the Zags have on their roster at the moment.
In his absence, we’ll most likely see Mark Few employ a four-guard lineup, scoring Corey Kispert on four and Anton Watson on five when Timme needs a break. While the Zags also have Pavel Zakharov on the squad, his lack of playing time this year suggests the coaching staff don’t think he’s nearly ready for meaningful minutes.
Fortunately, Timme is a smart player on both ends of the floor. He’s averaging just 2.2 fouls per game this season, and he’s rarely in trouble.
