Apex Legends Season 8 kicks off in just a few days, and ahead of the full patch notes Respawn has released some details on what fans can expect.

Season 8, Mayhem, is fast approaching for Apex Legends, and there’s a ton of changes to come. Not only do players get the explosive new Legend Fuse, but also a heavily redesigned King’s Canyon, new weapon, Legend buffs, matchmaking and ranked play changes, and more. Here’s everything developer Respawn Entertainment has released so far ahead of the full patch notes expected on or before Tuesday.

As was revealed last week, Season 8 will bring a new weapon to Apex Legends, the first since Season 6. This new heavy semi-automatic weapon called the 30-30 Repeater shoots faster than a Longbow but slower than a G7, with a bullet drop similar to the G7. The 30-30 will also have the ability to charge, similar to the Triple Take choke, and will allow each shot to do approximately 35% more damage.

Respawn has also released the changes that will happen to the leaderboard. Ranked Points (RP) will now be distributed to the top 13 in a match instead of the top 10 and more points will be awarded for eliminations and assists, in addition to the time window for assists increased from 7 to 10 seconds . These changes, along with improvements to Ranked Matchmaking, are aimed at helping players reach the rank that suits them best. Diamond Tracks will also make a return at the end of Season 8.

As for Legends, it is confirmed that several Legends are undergoing changes at the start or approaching the start of Season 8. As confirmed by senior game designer Daniel Klein, the Tactical Wall de Rampart will finally have HP during construction, to keep it from being destroyed so easily. Wraith will get a nerf, likely in the form of a hitbox tweak, a contentious decision Respawn has had to defend given Wraith’s high win rate and popularity among fans.

Finally, King’s Canyon will return, albeit in a heavily revamped form. Mountain peakThe first map was absent for most of Season 7, having been removed due to player complaints about balance issues. It now returns as Obliterated King’s Canyon, the result of Chief Salvo’s attempt to kill Fuse for betraying the planet by joining the Syndicates Apex Games. The in-game trailer showed the removal of Slum Lakes and the addition of a new area in the northern area of the map.

There is also growing evidence that the Switch version of Apex Legends will have a surprise release in February. There are also reports based on dated information that a birthday-themed fundraising event will be happening soon to commemorate Mountain peaksecond anniversary of February 4th.

Apex Legends is free on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S & X, with Switch and mobile versions in development.
