Marcus Smart Injury Update: Celtics Keep Up One to Two Weeks After Suffering Grade 1 Calf Strain, Report Says

Although the Boston Celtics dropped a 96-95 crush on the Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday after failing to convert potential back-to-back winning shots in the lapse of time, loss was the least of their concerns as Marcus Smart fell in the fourth quarter with a frightening injury to the left calf area. It was quickly announced that Smart was suffering from a strained calf, but there were many similarities between Kevin Durant’s infamous Achilles tear in the 2019 NBA Finals, where you could see the tendon come out like day, and Smart’s injury on Saturday night.

Fortunately, Boston may expire as Smart’s injury was not too severe as she was diagnosed as a grade 1 strain of calf, for The Athletic’s Shams Charania. Although not as big compared to a much more serious injury, Smart will still be sidelined for 1-2 weeks, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

In the second video, you can see something in Smart’s calf shot, which was visibly similar to Durant’s injury, so that you can understand the immediate concern. However, after undergoing an MRI, Smart’s injury was not that bad. Still, there’s no reason Boston would try to rush him to make sure he doesn’t get injured again.
